  • Las Posadas

    December 21, 2019 | 5:30pm - 8:30pm

Star of BethlehemLas Posadas (Spanish for “the inns") is an Advent celebration around the concept of hospitality. It is traditional to hold Posadas during the nine days before Christmas., but we are doing it in one evening! The Posadas symbolize Mary and Joseph’s long frustrating search for a place for Jesus to be born. We learn from this tradition that by welcoming the poor and the needy, we are welcoming Jesus to our midst. Come and join the Garcia Center as we honor the tradition and re-enact Mary and Joseph’s search for a birth place for The Baby. Our folk singers will be leading the singing of the traditional music that accompanies the “pilgrims” as they search for a shelter. Hot chocolate and pan dulce will be served. This is a free, family friendly event in which all ages can participate, and a lovely way to help us remember what the season is about.
