  • One-Day Ceramic Class

    August 17, 2019 | 10:00am - 12:00pm

    Ceramic Pieces Ready for FiringAlcira Mendoza will be the instructor that day. She is a recent graduate from CSUSB, majoring in Studio Art, with a concentration in Ceramics. The project will be one of a variety of “bird-feeders.” What a good project for a summer day! Glazing the project will take place on a future date to be decided. Cost: $20 for the session. Call the Center to register. Space is limited. 
  • Block Printmaking Studio

    August 17, 2019 | 10:00am - 12:00pm

    Block Printing of a Turtle From Saturday ClassCeara Torres, our print-making instructor, will be back to begin a new class. Ceara is a public school art teacher and has been on vacation during July. The new class will be from 10:00-12:00 every Saturday. Both previous students and new students are welcome to learn about block print-making. The cost is $10 per session (a bargain, to say the least). You can make prints to use as greeting cards, prints to frame and hang, or as one of the former students did, you can print on fabric. Call the Center for additional information.     
  • Spirits and Art: Painting with Jesse

    Paint SuppliesThis directed art activity will include refreshments and all supplies for a cost of $23. No experience necessary. Come and paint in a social environment. Call 888-6400 for registration and information.

    Microphone for the Youth ChoirOn Saturday, August 24th, at 10:00 A.M., we will have the first meeting of our new Youth Choir. Kids from ages 8-12 are invited to come and make some music for San Bernardino. The session will last until about 12:30. This session of Choir will be every Saturday through September 21st. Directing this group will be Nicole Perez, a recent graduate of CSUSB with major in Music Education. Nicole attended elementary and high school in San Bernardino, participating in both vocal and instrumental music, and was in both Chamber Choir and Theatre at Cajon High School. At Cal State, she was in Chamber Singers, Vocal Jazz Ensemble and Opera Theatre. She will be studying at the University of Redlands to receive her teaching credential and Master’s Degree in Education. She is excited to share her passion for music with the youth who want to be part of the Garcia Center’s Youth Choir. Our flyer can be downloaded here and we hope to see many young people show up to be part of this new endeavor. This event is free, because of a grant for children’s arts activities from the City of San Bernardino’s Arts and Historical Preservation Commission. 
  • Cosmic Comic Fest

    SupermanA generous donation of thousands of historic comic books was made to the Center by Comics Plus several months ago. It is now time to share this collection with the public. This is a San Bernardino “first”! **FREE ENTRY** Meet local comic book creators/illustrators Purchase comics ($1.00 ea.) duplicate copies Read and experience our awesome collection Cosplay and receive a free comic Enjoy refreshments Superman image from Legendary Woodsman.

  • Strands: A Textile Show Art Reception

    Artwork by Cindy Rinne"Strands: a textile show” opens at The Little Gallery, 459 West 4th Street, in downtown San Bernardino in the Breezeway between Court and 4th Streets. This show, exhibited until October 11th, features 4 textile artists, including Cindy Rinne, a Garcia Center/SBVCA Board member. The opening reception is August 31 from 4-9 p.m. The gallery is open Fridays, Noon-10 p.m. or email thelittlegallerysb@gmail.com for an appointment.
